That didn’t take long!! With all the hype surrounding the release of Toyota’s return to the Supra platform, it was only inevitable that someone was going to swap a 2jz engine into one of them and take it drifting.

Not a huge surprise seeing Daigo Saito is the first one to do it and go full Drift build.

This dude has transformed and drifting GTR’S, Lamborghinis and Vettes just to name a few. If it’s an insane build you can almost bet Daigo will be building one!

Employing the help HKS for the Supra Build, Saito swapped out the BMW power plant of the Supra A90 with an 800hp 2jz-GTE inline 6 cylinder 3.0l. The 2jz platform seemed the smart way to go with parts for the new BMW engine most likely being hard to come by or not even designed yet.

Along with making a few other Drift specific changes to the car, the details are still out there on the full build. Taking only 42 days from concept to done, Saito says he chose the new A90 Supra platform for Drifting because its short wheelbase and Compact size.

The 2JZ-powered Supra A90 drift car will make its first public appearance on March 23 in Tokyo at the D1 Grand Prix All-Star Shoot Out.
